Ingredients

  • 1 (9 bun) package of Hawaiian slider buns
  • 9 thick slices of cheddar cheese
  • About 3 cups shredded rotisserie or roasted chicken
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 3/4 cup barbecue sauce of your choice
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon smokehouse maple seasoning optional

Instructions

  1. Divide the rolls into top and bottom. For easy clean up, lay them on a baking dish lined with non stick foil.
  2. Put 1/2 of each large slice of cheddar cheese on the bottom half of each roll.
  3. In a bowl or container, combine the chicken with the bbq sauce, salt, pepper, onion powder, and chili powder. Pile the bbq chicken mixture over the cheese.
  4. Top the bbq chicken mixture with the other half of the cheese.
  5. Sandwich the top part of the buns on top.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  7. Melt the butter in a small pan.  As soon as it gets foamy, it’s done. Remove from heat and add the brown sugar and smokehouse maple seasoning (optional).
  8. Drizzle the butter sauce over the sandwiches.
  9. Cover the sandwiches with nonstick foil.  Bake for about 18 minutes, or until the cheese is nice and melty.
