This Steakhouse Creamed Corn Recipe is a classic side dish to any steak dinner. You'll find it on the menu of most steakhouses.
Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the corn and bring back to a boil. Cook until the corn is tender and cooked through.
Drain the corn using a colander and set aside.
Melt the butter in the same pot.
Stir in the flour, cornstarch, salt, sugar, and onion powder. While stirring, cook until the mixture (on low-medium heat) until the mixture smooth.
Add the cream and continue to stir. Add the pepper. Cook until the mixture begins to thicken. You should be able to coat the back of a wooden spoon.
Stir the cooked corn into the cream sauce.
Cook until creamy.
This is a family-sized portion of the Creamed Corn. By family-sized, I mean about 8 generous portions. I double the recipe for Thanksgiving or Christmas.
