Smoked Sausage Cornbread

This is the cornbread you'll want to serve next to your BBQ dishes this summer.

  • 3-1/3 Cups Cornmeal
  • 3 Tablespoon s Flour
  • 1-1/2 Teaspoons Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon Baking Power
  • 1/8 Teaspoon Pepper
  • 1/8 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
  • 3 Cups Milk
  • 4 Eggs
  • 6 Tablespoons Butter, plus extra to coat a 9 by 13 inch baking dish (Melted and cooled)
  • 2 Cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 3 Tablespoons Grated Parmigianino Reggiano cheese or Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 Cup Crumbled Feta Cheese (optional)
  • 8 Ounces Smoked Sausage (cut into chunks)


  1. Generously butter a 9 by 13 inch baking dish.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper.

  3. Stir in the milk, followed by the melted and cooled butter.

  4. Stir in the cheeses, followed by the chopped smoked sausage pieces.

  5. Pour the mixture into your greased baking dish.  It may look liquidy now, but it will harden after baking.

  6. Bake in a preheated over at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 45 minutes.
