Creamed Corn may sound fancy, but it is actually very easy to make.
Steps to steakhouse style creamed corn:
- Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the corn and bring back to a boil. Cook until the corn is tender and cooked through.
- Drain the corn using a colander and set aside.
- At this point, you can melt the butter in the same pot.
- Stir in the flour, cornstarch, salt, sugar, and onion powder. While stirring, cook until the mixture (on low-medium heat) until the mixture smooth. You are basically making a variation on the classic Béchamel Sauce.
- Add the cream and continue to stir. Add the pepper. Cook until the mixture begins to thicken. You should be able to coat the back of a wooden spoon.
- Stir the cooked corn into the cream sauce.
- Cook until creamy.
Enjoy!

Variations to the creamed corn
You can make the dish a bit spicy by adding a diced jalapeno. Just make sure you take out the seeds and veins. Otherwise, the corn will be more than a little spicy.
If you want the creamed corn a little more on the savory side, you can add some cooked bacon.
