Quick and Easy Recipe
My mom used to make these delicious hot dog quesadilla when I was growing up. It was one of those quick and easy foods, she could whip up in 15 or 20 minutes. Perfect for a working mom.
Versatile Recipe
While the basic recipe has a beef hot dog, you can just as easily use turkey. Or, if you want to make things more interesting, you can pick a fancier hot dog, such as a jalapeno or cheesy hot dog.
You can add to your hot dog quesadilla a variety of fillings, just as you would on a regular hot dog.
How to make a delicious hot dog quesadilla:
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with non-stick foil. Place a baking rack on the foil.
We need to make sure that your hot dog will be cooked thought, so we will microwave it for about 30 seconds. You could also para-boil it if you like.
I am using a bun length all beef hot dog.
Lay a tortilla down flat. Spread 3 to 4 tablespoons of the shredded cheddar cheese on the tortilla. I like mine with plenty cheese. Cheddar cheese would be my top choice for these hot dog quesadillas. However, you can use a cheese blend if you like.
Place the hot dog in the lower third of your tortilla.
At this point, if you are using mustard, you can spread a teaspoon or two on the hot dog. Add any additional fillings, such as tomatoes, onions, or relish. I am a California girl, so I’m using some chopped up jalapeño on mine.
Roll the tortilla from the side of the hot dog to the other side.
If you like, use a toothpick to secure the tortilla. If you don’t have a toothpick, make sure you have the end of the tortilla face down.
Pop them in a preheated oven and bake them for about 15 to 16 minutes.
When they are done, they will hold their shape.
