Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon oil
- 1 lb ground pork sausage (hot)
- 1 teaspoon flour
- 1 (8 ounce) block cream cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
- 2 tablespoons diced pimientos
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoons onion powder
- 3 packages crescent rolls
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted (to drizzle on top)
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili pepper flakes to garnish (optional)
How to make sausage and cream cheese crescent rolls
- Heat a pan on low-medium heat. Add a tablespoon of butter and a teaspoon of oil. Then, add the hot ground sausage meat and sprinkle with flour. Cook until the meat is mostly no longer pink. It will continue to cook through the process.
- Add the salt, pepper, and onion powder.
- Turn the heat down to low and add the cream cheese, cheddar, mozzarella and Gruyère. Keep on the burner only until the cheeses melt.
- Remove from heat and allow the mixture to come to room temperature.
- Stir in the pimientos. Set aside.
- Preheat oven to 370 degrees Fahrenheit.
- On a wooden board, roll out the crescent dinner rolls. Do not cut the triangle pieces of dough into small pieces like you would for Mini Crescent Roll Hot Dogs. These need to stay full size.
- Spoon a generous tablespoon of the mixture on the larger end of the triangle.
- Roll the dough around the sausage mixture, with some of the mixture showing on each end. The small amount of flour, along with the cheeses in the mixture will act as a glue and keep the filling from spilling out.
- Place your crescent rolls on a baking dish or tray. Brush with the melted butter.
- If you like your rolls extra spicy, add some of the red chili pepper flakes on top. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until the dough is golden.
