Chocolate Sauce
This is the chocolate sauce you will want to serve with everything sweet.
This chocolate sauce is rich and thick. It’s more like a hot fudge than a chocolate syrup.
I came up with this delicious chocolate sauce one day when I wanted something sweet, but had nothing but plain vanilla ice cream. I had in mind an ice cream sundae, but had no sauce of any kind. What’s a girl to do? So, I decided to throw together what turned out to be one of my favorite toppings for ice cream, Chocolate Brownies, cakes, and other desserts.
My other favorite topping is the Caramel Sauce I more recently developed. Together they make a dynamic duo.
This chocolate sauce make a scoop of plain ice cream into something special. I have found memories of serving this chocolate sauce over ice cream at a family gathering. The smiles on the faces put a smile on my face now.
You can present this chocolate sauce as a sweet fondue and use it to dunk fruits such as strawberries, cherries, boysenberries, and bananas. If that’s not decadent enough, you can also use the chocolate sauce to dunk cookies such as Oreo cookies or Peanut Butter cookies. You can use it to dunk little brownie bites, and chunks of Angel Food Cake, Pound Cake, Twinkies, and, of course, marshmallows. There are so many great options.
So, like me, if you have a sweet tooth, but don’t have much time, you can make this luscious chocolate sauce. All you need is these four ingredients: semisweet chocolate chips, heavy cream, butter, and light corn syrup. That’s it.
This chocolate sauce is so good, you will want to swim in it.
A Side Note on Chocolate Chips
One of my favorite brands of chocolate chips is Ghirardelli (no affiliate relation). This brand has a nice, smooth finish, unlike some other brands that have a slightly chalky feel. And as I always say, you get what you put into something.
Storing the Chocolate Sauce
I store my chocolate sauce in a microwaveable/heat proof bowl or jar. I got mine at Smart and Final, but you can also get them online. They are very practical.
Here is a photo of the heat proof bowl with a lid on. It’s great for storing sauces in the refrigerator.
Steps to the Most Delicious Chocolate Sauce:
- In a heavy-bottom saucepan, combine the chocolate chips, butter, heavy cream, and light corn syrup.
- Cook on low heat for about 5 minutes, or until the chocolate sauce comes together and thickens.
Thats it. How simple is that?
You are welcome!
