Why is a Chicken Salad, a Salad?
Have you ever wondered why a chicken salad is called a salad? A chicken salad traditionally has chopped up veggies, and often even fruit. In this chicken salad recipe, we are incorporating the classic combination of celery, onions, and carrots.
We are passing up on the fruit for this chicken salad recipe. While this recipe is simple, it is creamy, flavorful, and just delicious. You won’t miss the the grapes, cranberries, or other fruit.

How to Make the Best Easy Classic Chicken Salad:
Add the baked chicken in a large bowl. This is a perfect use for your leftover baked chicken. If you don’t have any leftover chicken, you can easily pick a baked chicken from your local supermarket. My favorite is Sprouts’ Organic Baked Chicken. You can get it unseasoned or seasoned. It is so delicious.
Stir in the mayonnaise.
Ideally, I would use a homemade mayonnaise, or a quality, organic mayonnaise. However, if you don’t have any homemade mayo on hand, make sure that you use a good quality, full fat mayonnaise that is made with egg yolks.
Next, mix in the onions, celery, and carrots.
This is what officially makes this a “salad.” This is also what will give your Chicken Salad a little crunch.
Last, stir in the salt, dill weed, onion powder, mustard powder, and pepper. The dill adds such a nice flavor. Boy, do I love the smell of dill weed.
Serve this any way you like. Enjoy.
