Best Easy Sloppy Joes
Sometimes the best tasting things are the messiest. Sloppy Joes are like cheeseburgers, only, well sloppy, and in many cases more flavorful.
These Sloppy Joes are so delicious, eating just one is almost impossible.
What makes Sloppy Joes so delicious? I believe that it’s the combination of the meat with the sweetness of the ketchup, the tanginess of the tomato sauce, and all the flavorful spices. Top that with a generous sprinkling or two of shredded cheddar. You serve that inside of a burger or brioche bun, and you’ve got yum!
How to Make the Best Easy Sloppy Joes:
Melt 3 tablespoons butter in a deep pan or casserole dish. Add the onions and celery. Cook on low-medium heat until the vegetables start to soften. Remember, the veggies will continue to cook a little more with the meat so there is no need to overdo it.
Add the ground beef. Also stir in the salt, pepper, onion powder, celery salt, and parsley.
Raise the temperature to medium heat and cook until the beef is no longer pink. Stir the beef mixture with a wooden spoon.
Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, and chicken stock.
Cook on low-medium heat until the beef mixture thickens. This should take about 30 minutes or so. Continue stirring with a wooden spoon.
The mixture will splatter as it cooks, so keep some non-stick foil at hand in between stirring. Just make sure one only loosely cover the mixture so it can air. If you cover it tightly, it will come to a quick boil and can burn on the bottom.
When ready to serve, heat a little butter in a pan on medium heat. Lay each burger or brioche bun inside-down for a few seconds, until they start to toast up a little bit. This will help prevent the buns from falling apart when you add the meat mixture.
To assemble, add a generous serving of ground beef mixture and lay it on the bottom half of the bun. Then, add a some shredded cheddar cheese on top of that. Top that off with the top half of the bun.
Enjoy!
