Baked Mozzarella Sticks
There is just something about hot, melty cheese that you can stretch out and drool over before eating. Just saying. I’ve always loved mozzarella sticks.
This is a perfect snack or appetizer to serve your family between meals. Your family will love you.
Reduced Calorie Mozzarella Sticks
These mozzarella sticks are not your traditional fried mozzarella sticks. So, they don’t soak up all the oil from the frying process.
However, they are still stretchy and cheese. So, all is good.
Dishes you can prep the night before
This is also one of those dishes that you can prep the night before. In fact, it is highly recommended that you prep these the night before to help prevent the breading to fall off of the cheese when cooking.
Steps to homemade ooey gooey mozzarella sticks:
Set up work work station. Your assembly line will look something like this:
In a dish combine the flour and salt.
In a second dish whisk the eggs and cream.
In a third dish, combine the dried bread crumbs, dill, parsley, and pepper.
Roll each mozzarella stick in the flour.
Next, coat the mozzarella stick in the egg mixture.
Here is a little tip. I used a pair of thongs to dip and thoroughly coat the mozzarella sticks in the egg mixture. Otherwise, your fingers will get super sticky.
Lastly, coat the mozzarella stick with the bread crumbs. Don’t worry, you will not use all of the bread crumbs, but having more bread crumbs on the plate makes it easier to fully coat the mozzarella sticks.
At this point, if you want a thicker coating, dip the mozzarella stick in the egg mixture a second time…
…And coat with bread crumbs a second time.

At this point, cover the mozzarella sticks with some foil and pop them in the freezer. Freeze the mozzarella sticks at least 2 hours, but preferably overnight.
Preheat the oven to 410 degrees Fahrenheit.
Bake the mozzarella sticks for about 10 minutes, turning halfway through.

- 1 (12 pack) Low Moisture Part Skim Mozzarella Cheese String Cheese
- 1/2 Cup Flour
- 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
- 3 Eggs
- 3 Teaspoons Heavy Cream
- 2 Cups Dried Bread Crumbs
- 1/2 Teaspoon Dried Dill
- 1 Teaspoon Dried Parsley
- 1/8 Teaspoon Pepper
