Oven Baked BBQ Chicken
This Oven Baked BBQ Chicken is tender and full of flavor. Your family will love how tasty it is. You will love how easy it is to make.
Dry Rub vs. Wet Rub BBQ
There are two main philosophies when it comes to barbecuing: Dry Rub vs. Wet Rub. People on each side will insist on there style being the best. I personally enjoy both.
A few months ago I also posted a recipe for my Dry Rub BBQ Chicken Drumsticks. This recipe is especially great if you are following a Keto friendly diet and can’t have the wet rub BBQ recipes that include sugar, honey, molasses, or a combination of all of the above.
This recipe is a wet rub. It is unashamedly sweet and spicy. This Oven BBQ Chicken is the kind of barbecue chicken that is slathered in sauce. This is what I think of when I think of BBQ. For this recipe we are using my Homemade BBQ Sauce.
How to Make Oven Baked BBQ Chicken:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Line a baking dish with several layers of non-stick foil. This will greatly reduce the cleanup. You will thank me later.
Start with room temperature chicken pieces. I used Chicken Drumsticks. Add a little salt, pepper, onion powder, smoked paprika, and smoked California chili pepper to each side.
How long does it take to cook the BBQ Chicken?
Bake your chicken for 40 minutes, turning over after 20 minutes. Spoon any excess liquid from the pan. You want a dry pan at this point. This is more of an issue if you use thighs since they are higher in fat. It’s not as much of an issue if you use breasts or drumsticks.
First, generously spoon your Homemade BBQ Sauce on one side of the chicken. Bake for 20 minutes.
Th, flip the chicken pieces over, and brush with more of the BBQ Sauce. Bake for an additional 20 to 25 minutes.
Enjoy!
